Stretch Goal 1

Overnight we tore through the first stretch goal. This unlocked two cool items for all of our backers. Now ALL backers will receive a digital Mission Folio written by Eric Bloat which will be made available on DriveThruRPG when the game is released. We also were able to unlock a new adversary to be added to the main book. These are new monsters or enemies for the GM to use, which players can encounter in any of their missions.

Stretch Goal 2: Craig Campbell

We're already a good portion of the way towards unlocking this next Mission Folio which will be written by the super-creative Craig Campbell. You might know him from his games Murders and Acquisitions, Capers, or his current Kickstarter project Die Laughing (more on that below).

Craig's mission bends the perception of space and time as the soldiers are sent on a standard reconnaissance mission only to find they are unable to leave. As we've discussed some of the details, I've gotten really excited about the secrets and surprises Craig has in store, which shouldn't come as a shock to anyone who may have read any of his great work in the past. Speaking of which...

Die Laughing

Craig currently has a Kickstarter going for his game Die Laughing. Our regular gaming group playtested this and had such a ridiculously good time. I can't recommend this game enough, so you if you are a fan of fun, quick games where a GM isn't required, you should really give this game a look using the link below

FUNDED!!!

In case you missed it before, let us say it again, you all are AWESOME! We are so thankful to have so much support from all you backers so quickly. Never Going Home is going to exist. It is beyond exciting to get to work on making this game all it can be. That said, we have no doubt it will be even greater. Hitting our funding goal this early means there is plenty of time left to talk about all the exciting stretch goals we have in store.

First up, we have ERIC BLOAT of Bloat Games. You may know him from his really cool OSR games like his Dark Places and Demogorgons line, Vigilante City, or Survive This: Zombies. If we reach $8,000 Eric will be writing about a village engulfed in perpetual fog and the horrors there.

“For two miles now, from pasture to pasture, our squad has come upon dead cow after dead cow. Each one looking ‘deflated’ or ‘sunken-in’. How many has it been now, 20? 30? Hell, maybe 50? There’s probably more that we haven’t noticed out there lying in the tall grassy obscured by this damn God-forsaken fog! Blinding the men and I to only seeing things no more than a few yards away. Hell, only the Lord knows what’s out there, lying in wait, ready to pick us off one by one at the most opportune moment. I proudly enlisted to fight for my country but not to fight these demons? Is that what they are? All slimy and with their tentacles or bulging fish eyes. That wasn’t in the damn pamphlet!

“There just ahead, maybe only twenty yards, a small figure begins to emerge, stopping us in our tracks. I raise the signal. My men know it means to be ready for anything. The figure steps forward, stumbling it’s way free of the mist. It’s a boy! He’s shirtless and shoeless, in just his trousers and suspenders. ‘My God, is he drunk?’ Tommy asks.

“No. It’s shock. Cover him up.” I order. As the men retrieve and begin tending to the boy, I train my eyes on the fog, squinting to see all I can see. As I step slowly forward large, dark familiar shapes begin to emerge. Buildings or houses or barns. Can’t tell in this blasted fog! That’s when we hear it. The screech, like the sound of a thousand bees stinging a pack cats. It’s coming from the town. The damned thing is in the town . . . “

Thank you, again. Let’s keep climbing.

Be on the lookout for another update with some more information about the next few stretch goal writers Craig Campbell and Ben Woerner and their awesome current projects.

75% in the first 24 hours

When we launched this campaign yesterday morning, we did so knowing we have a great game with amazing art. We knew that the theme and setting would appeal to people, but what we didn't expect was for you all to respond in such an outstanding way! Let me just say YOU ALL ARE AWESOME!

As the funding goal nears, we want you to understand we are by no means going to rest on the success you all have already allowed this project to have. We have a TON of amazing stretch goals already planned and we'll be discussing those in updates as we move through funding levels. We also have a couple more which we've been tossing around among the creative team, and these may be revealed shortly. Stay excited and spread the word.
